However, recent research has reevaluated him as a pivotal figure in European Classical music—a London-based composer who worked as a publisher, piano manufacturer, and, above all, a composer who “reimagined keyboard performance from within.”\nThis recording project was realized by Chen Xueyuan, a Chinese scholar and pianist, who invited Liu Xibo to collaborate. The two carefully selected 15 sonatas from Clementi’s vast body of work that are crucial for tracing the evolution of his career. Going beyond mere performance, they aimed to reconstruct the composer’s musical portrait through meticulous joint research on scores and musical forms.\n\nThe 15 pieces included span from early works composed during the transition from harpsichord to piano to mature works that foreshadow the anxieties of the Romantic era.\nCD 1 features early to mid-period works that showcase a dialogue between contrapuntal tradition and new virtuosity. CD 2 features a collection of more symphonic and densely composed works from the period when he had established his reputation in London. CD 3 highlights masterpieces from his mature period, including Op. 24—known for its duets with Mozart—and Op. 25, which contains a tension reminiscent of Beethoven.\nFrom the virtuosic techniques found in his early works, such as rapid octaves, to the legato playing and dynamic contrasts of his mature period, This highlights Clementi’s innovative spirit, which evolved in tandem with the functional advancements of the “new piano” of that era.\n\nThe performer is Liu Shibo, a rising star who earned his master’s degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and currently teaches at the Xiantai College of Shanghai International Studies University. He is a winner of the Nice International Piano Competition in France and the Rocky Mountain International Piano Competition in Canada.\nHe studied under the renowned master Li Minduo, who carries on the legacy of the legendary Russian pianist and educator Neuhaus, and his performances are highly acclaimed for their unique interpretations that pursue a “balance between passion and composure.”\nTokyo M Plus\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Da Vinci Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52490347938081,"sku":"746160919874","price":78385.0,"currency_code":"ARS","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/746160919874.jpg?v=1774486338","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ar\/products\/746160919874","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
