Description:

In 2022, New Zealand artist and producer Fazerdaze (Amelia Murray) made a comeback with her EP "Break! Soft Power", her second album in seven years, which she calls "a bedroom stadium record". Change can be chaotic, liberating, euphoric, and painful. But there is always a fresh landscape left afterwards, a new chapter waiting to unfold. In recent months, New Zealand artist/producer Fazerdaze (Amelia Murray) has navigated the intensity of change. The result is her transformative new album, Soft Power, to be released on November 15 via section1/Buttrfly Records (Australia/New Zealand) Fazerdaze's long-awaited comeback in 2022. EP, "Break!", was a seismic shift in her career and a powerful leap toward personal freedom. After overcoming personal struggles and industry hurdles since her critically acclaimed 2017 debut, Morningside, "Break!" was a moment of liberation for her. And following "Break!", which was praised by The Guardian, The FADER, NME, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Pitchfork, MOJO, and others, the single "Bigger" was released (the song will also appear on the new album). 2017 While 2017's "Morningside" was a deep and intimate bedroom pop record, Fazerdaze's recent work has explored a more expansive sound, drawing inspiration from Tame Impala, The Cure, and U2's "The Joshua Tree," among others Break! The liberating experience of recording and releasing "Break!" inspired Fazerdaze to return to her roots and work solo again. Her new album, "Soft Power," is an 11-track epic. Colored by intense self-pity and mature self-awareness, the album paints a broader palette. On the record, which she describes as "a bedroom stadium record," synths and electronic beats are fused with classic rock touches to create a sound that balances moments of gritty authenticity and sophisticated pop brilliance. The majority of Soft Power was recorded and produced by Fazerdaze herself, with Simon Gooding co-mixing and Emily Wheatcroft-Snape engineering the album's drum parts.
