LAWO label is pleased to announce the release of a collection of nine albums by Brynjar Hoff, one of Norway's and Scandinavia's leading oboe players, selected from his many recordings on the label's "Reissue" label. Brynjar Hoff (1940-), born in Orkanger, studied oboe from 1950 and joined the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15. In 1965, he joined the Oslo Philharmonic as assistant principal and later as solo oboist. He helped found the Oslo Woodwind Quintet and collaborated and recorded with musicians including pianist Lorvett Levin, with whom he worked for many years; in 1973, he won a "Norwegian Grammy" for his recording of Mozart's Oboe Quartet, and in 1981 he was named Norwegian Composers Society's Performer of the Year.In 2003, the group performed a farewell concert at Gamle Roggen in Oslo, with organist Kåre Norrstoga as pianist; the album was released on the Aurora, Simax, and Libra Classics labels.
