SCHOLA CANTORUM

Description:

Challenging the possibilities of the voice! Don't miss 2L's quintessential immersive sound of the chamber choir "Schola Kantorum" singing their own musical landscapes! The Oslo chamber choir "Skola Kantorum" and Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl, who released "Hymn to the Virgin" (2L095SABD) and "Worship" (2L61SACD), present a new work. Trachea. Here the human breath is purified and transformed into an art of great beauty, power and tenderness. The song of the voice, a primitive instrument, allows us to measure the depth of our emotions. The album features six "now" choral works sung in a unique musical landscape, ranging from folk- and jazz-inspired pieces to contemporary pieces. The "Snilla Patea" by folk musician Björn Kåre Ode, a player of harringfellas and fiddle, is a "violin and chorus" piece written as "folk" for listening rather than for dancing, incorporating elements and techniques of folk music. In Mattin Odegaard's "Trachea," the chorus and four horns are arranged to surround the listener, creating a "song" without lyrics and the sounds of the instruments moving through "space.Ståle Kleiberg's "Everything in the Universe" is a two-movement work with texts from two poems in the collection Corona (Corona) by Mustaine Mehren (1935-2017). Schola Cantorum tenor Björn Motten Christofeschen is also a composer. He is highly acclaimed for his clear and varied expressiveness, as shown in "The Lord of the House" from "Worship" and "The Brass Weave" (2L143SABD) for the Oslo Philharmonic Brass. The Oak Tree and the Shadowdrop" was commissioned by Schola Kantorum for its 50th anniversary, based on H. C. Andersen's "The Last Dream of the Old Oak Tree". The music by Sweden's Karin Lenqvist is what she calls a "peace project," with lyrics based on a phrase uttered by an 11-year-old Croatian boy embroiled in the Balkan wars: "Close your eyes and you will see a dream of peace. Divided into two parts, "Just in English" and "In twelve languages," the first half is written in Swedish folk music, while the second half reflects the music of each country.Floie Augré is a well-known jazz player whose works include the leader album "Cycle of Silence" (ACT9491). In "Gloria," her saxophone beautifully spins the chorus singing "Glory to God in the highest heaven" in a style of her own. King International
