Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ibrahim Aziz has traveled the world playing the gamba. He has made a name for himself in London and Keten, collaborating with Kirkby, Esfahani, and others, and is a member of numerous viol ensembles. Currently based in London, Aziz's debut recording features the instrument, which was made in England in 1712. Bach's Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, which he arranged himself for the gamba, is one of his calling cards. The album also includes gumba works written for him by contemporary composers, making it a fascinating collection that is not bound by the past.
