He showed musical talent from an early age, and after studying in Rheinsberg, he was hired by Duke Heinrich of Prussia as a horn player in the Rheinsberg Chapel. As a composer, he is linked to the style of Haydn and Mozart. He left many works for horn, which was his forte, but he also wrote an astonishing number of works for flute, including four concertos, about 90 duets, and about 60 quartets for flute and string trio. This album includes three flute concertos. The \"G major, Op. 12,\" which is strongly influenced by Mozart, is attractive for its light-hearted musicality. In \"A Minor, Op.53,\" which makes the most of the flute's virtuosity, we can enjoy an excellent performance by Pas-van Lier. The \"E minor, Op.63,\" published in Leipzig in 1812, features two oboes, bassoon, horn, two trumpets, and timpani, and the orchestra is augmented by the addition of two trumpets and timpani for a powerful sound. Schneider's great talent as a wind instrumentalist is on full display.
