This recording is of C.P.E. Bach, \"the second son of the great Bach,\" who was known for his style that set him apart from his contemporaries even during his lifetime and earned him international fame. This is a good selection of his works, centering on the enigmatic \"Quartet\" from his last years, which is particularly unique among his remaining works, and accompanied by two well-developed arranged movements. The keyboard part can be played by either harpsichord or fortepiano since the composer did not specify the instruments, and the \"Quartet\" can be played by three players since one part is allocated to each of the left and right hands on the keyboard, so the interpretation is largely at the discretion of the players. It is also unique in that the viola is given a large part to play without the violin.These three pieces were composed in the middle of the classical period when Mozart had finished most of his piano concertos, in the last years of C.P.E.
