Description:
A collection of chamber music works by two leading contemporary Iranian composers. Tafreshpour is a composer who also released an album on the NAXOS label (8.579023), which was well received for the exotic sound that pervades the entire work. Here we hear two pieces, "Broken Times" for string quartet and "Pendar" for solo violin. Maid, one of the few female composers active under the post-revolutionary Iranian regime, was also known as a folk song collector, and the unique string quartets here, "Dreamland" and "Faraghi," are her most recent works. Faraghi," which means "absence or loss," is a song about parting with a loved one and conveys Maïd's feelings in a straightforward manner. Naxos Japan
