Denehy's opera "The Last Hotel" had its world premiere in 2015. The title implies "a dark drama in which death is tied to every movement...this is a crude institution where suicides are finally lodged," but it is in fact a comedic work. It is a unique work that overturns the classical concept of "opera," with classical arias, bursts of drums, and sometimes minimalist melodies that are repeated endlessly by the orchestra. Naxos Japan
