However, just three months after its domestic release—just as the band was gaining momentum and Lookout! Records was showing interest—band members Jeremy Gage, Adam Cox, and Matt Fitzgerald, all still in their early 20s, were killed in a tragic van accident, forcing the band to disband. Twenty years later, Guitar Romantic has evolved from a cult classic known only to a select few into a truly acclaimed and highly regarded masterpiece that defines its era.
