The instrument used was built by Friedrich Haas in 1862 for the St. Leodegal Hof church in Lucerne, and is one of the largest organs in Switzerland. Liszt himself knew of and actually played this instrument. The mesmerizing spatial expression created by this organ, whose sections are dispersed throughout the interior of the church, is reproduced with remarkable fidelity in the 5.1 surround recording on this hybrid SACD.\n\n\n\nThe performance is by Stéphane Motour, the church's resident organist since 2021.
