The performance does not emphasize the virtuosity of the musicians, but rather the spaciousness and joyful liveliness of each member's playing. The coupling is Serenade No. 11. Written in the key of E-flat major, Mozart's favorite key, this five-movement serenade has the fresh colors that are unique to Mozart, and the interplay between the various instruments is a joy to listen to. Mozart left 13 serenades, but only three were written for wind instruments: the aforementioned No. 10, No. 11, and No. 12.
