This reissue of the band's second album "Gold Against the Soul" released in 1993 is available as a limited edition, 120-page A4 size book, featuring many previously unreleased photographs by Mitch Ikeda, who has photographed the band for many years. The reissue takes the form of a 120-page, A4-sized book, featuring a number of previously unpublished photographs taken by longtime band photographer Mitch Ikeda, many of which are personally annotated by Nicky Wyer (B/Vo). Also included are original lyrics typed and handwritten from the band's archives. The two CDs included with the book will contain the remastered full-length album, unreleased demos, B-side tracks from the same era, remixes, and a live recording of The Clash's cover of "What's My Name". Gold Against the Soul" was released just over a year after their debut album, "Generation Terrorist," and simultaneously broke into the Top 10 in the UK charts, marking a musical shift to a classic rock sound and establishing the basic shape of the Manics' sound. This album established the basic shape of the Mannix sound. The lead single "From Despair To Where" was followed by "La Tristesse Durera [Scream To A Sigh]", "Roses In The Hospital? Roses In The Hospital" and "Life Becoming A Landslide" were released. Produced by Dave Ellinga, who worked with the band in various capacities then and now, the album was recorded over a six-week period at Outside/Hook End Studios. Nicky Wyer said of the release. When we moved into our new studio a couple of years ago, we unearthed so many demos and photos from the "Gold Against the Soul" era that we thought it would be a shame to let them never see the light of day. I never used to berate the album, but in hindsight, it was a strange and intriguing album with a lot of fan favorites. Whenever James (vo/g) hints at the "Sleep Flower" riff live, there is always a huge reaction.

Tracklisting:

.Sleepflower (Remastered)
.From Despair to Where (Remastered)
.La Tristesse Durera (Scream to a Sigh) (Remastered)
.Yourself (Remastered)
.Life Becoming a Landslide (Remastered)
.Drug Drug Druggy (Remastered)
.Roses in the Hospital (Remastered)
.Nostalgic Pushead (Remastered)
.Symphony of Tourette (Remastered)
.Gold Against the Soul (Remastered)
.Donkeys (Remastered)
.Comfort Comes (Remastered)
.Are Mothers Saints (Remastered)
.Patrick Bateman (Remastered)
.Hibernation (Remastered)
.Us Against You (Remastered)
.Charles Windsor (Remastered)
.Wrote for Luck (Remastered)
.What's My Name (Live) [Remastered]
