This disc features rare songs and violin works by Nikolai Metonel, who is popular among piano lovers in Japan as Irina Medjueva's specialty repertoire. Metonel studied under Taneyev at the Moscow Conservatory. He was also a busy pianist, but after the Russian Revolution, he settled in London, where he left many works, mainly piano works. Like his close friend Rachmaninoff, his songs have the romanticism and aesthetics of the 19th century, even in the 20th century, and should be heard by many people.
