Pletnyov took on the challenge of performing Scriabin's symphonies. The first symphony is a Mahler-like work with solo voice and chorus, and the second, \"Poem of Ecstasy,\" is considered a representative of sensual music. Scriabin's Symphony No. 1, composed between 1899 and 1900, is a 55-minute work in six movements. It is a work written before Scriabin's own mysticism, and it is simply beautiful, full of the vivid lyricism and primitivism of his early years. Because of its large scale composition, there have not been many opportunities to perform or record it, so this is a valuable new recording. The coda, in which the chorus sings the art in high spirits, is a masterpiece. Scriabin's \"Poem of Ecstasy\" is a perverse music that makes full use of mystical chords and abstracts sexual love. However, Pletnyov's cool-headed interpretation makes it rather religious, and the similarity to Mahler's music is a great discovery. Both pieces make full use of large orchestras, and the writing style of Scriabin, who was a piano-type composer, is noticeable, but it is Pletnyov, a great pianist, who unravels the intricate twists and turns. The recording was made in March 2014 at a studio in Moscow, but it is also noteworthy that only the organ part of the \"Poem of Legal Elation\" was recorded and mixed at St. Ludwig's Church in Berlin, Germany. The effect, especially the organ's earth-rumbling roar, is ideal for Scriabin, who was an acoustic fanatic.
