Igor Levit is a young Russian pianist prodigy who combines perfect technique and artistic maturity. In the fall of 2013, he signed an exclusive artist contract with Sony Classical and released his debut disc, "Beethoven's Late Sonatas," as a 2-CD set to great acclaim. The second album, released in 2014, is another massive work, a two-CD set of J.S. Bach's six "Partitas," again following the debut album, which received rave reviews from music magazines. This album is a distribution from the 3-CD set containing the three variations released in 2015. Polish-American contemporary composer Jefszki's "Indomitable People" Variations, a set of 36 variations based on the revolutionary song "Indomitable People" by the Chilean composer, is one of the most popular contemporary music pieces of all time. The variations made headlines in June 2014 when Levitt played them in a recital at the Vienna Musikvereinsaal, surprising the audience as a substitute for Pollini, who had suddenly fallen ill.It was session-recorded in 2015 in the Great Hall (formerly known as the Scoring Stage) of Berlin's Hunkhaus Nalepa Strasse, known for its acoustics, one of the best in Europe.
