Their iconic frontman, whose exceptional pop sensibility and catchy melodies set them apart from other bands in the punk context, was Pete Shelley, who sadly passed away in 2018. His two solo titles, \"Homosapien\" and \"XL1,\" which are being reissued this time, were released after the Buzzcocks' breakup in 1981, and are masterpieces by a man who had gone through new wave and punk, sharpening his own pop sensibilities and surrendering himself to new styles like techno and synth pop.\n\nReleased in 1982, \"Homosapien\" was overshadowed by the Human League's \"Dare\" and its smash hit \"Don't You Want Me,\" both of which were released shortly thereafter, and did not receive the recognition it deserved. Released at a time when synthpop was at its peak, both albums were produced by Martin Rushant and recorded in the same studio.
