When we think of American singer-songwriters, we inevitably think of artists like Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Melanie, and Tracy Chapman. But don't forget Janis Ian. After all, she is a two-time Grammy Award winner. Her second album for Columbia Records, Between the Lines (1975), spent weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Albums Chart, spending a total of 64 weeks on the chart and earning a platinum disc. The cornerstone of her unprecedented career was laid in 1967 with the single "Society's Child," a song that would go on to become one of the most popular songs of all time. Janice's lyrics hit the nail on the head, echoing the popular girl group theme of the time: girl falls in love, parents and society are against it. Society's Girl" was covered many times by Spooky Tooth, Judy Stone, and Lou Gramm of Foreigner. Of course, the song was also performed on the show when Janis Ian performed it in the Radio Bremen studio on October 4, 2004. This time, the sound source has been released as a 2CD! An artist, guitarist, singer, and soloist with only a unique charisma. And a captivating entertainer and storyteller. That's all she needs to be satisfied. When I think back to that night, there is a bit of melancholy in her voice, but also hope. Kindness, after all. Empathy. Understanding.
