The second rare sound recording of Yuri Egorov, a genius who died young! Yuri Egorov (1954-1988) was born in Kazan, the former Soviet Union (now the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan), and was a gifted pianist who died young. Egorov defected to the Netherlands to escape oppression, and here comes the second volume of rare recordings he left behind for Dutch broadcasters such as VARA and TROS! Egorov studied piano under Yakov Zak at the Moscow Conservatory, and won the third prize at the 1974 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition and the third prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition the following year in 1975. Egorov died of AIDS in 1988 at the age of 33.
