Born in Palermo, Italy, Giornovici is believed to be of the same Croatian descent as Bojan Cici, a musician Cici had long dreamed of performing and recording. He was active in all the major European cities of the time, including Paris, London, Vienna, Berlin, Dublin, and Stockholm, and used as many as 30 aliases (Giornovići, Jarnovići, Jarnovik, and others) in each country.Here are three concertos from his time with Haydn in London in the 1790s, as well as a variation on the aria "Julie's Villager (Rison was sleeping in the woods)" from Dosed's opera "Julie". The previous album, Giovanni Carbonelli (DCD 34194), was a great success, being named "Special Disc of the Month" by Record Art Overseas REVIEW, "Chamber Choice" by BBC Music Magazine and "2017 Recording of the Year" by Presto Classical, UK, and Cicich says, "This success reveals that there is a wide audience for newly discovered music," and there are high expectations for this world premiere recording of the entire work by Giovanni Giornovich.
