Description:

Chen Yi is a composer and violinist from Guangzhou, China. She was born and raised in an educated family with doctor parents, but suffered persecution during the Cultural Revolution. She is also a violinist and has composed many excellent concertos for strings, and this album is a compilation of her works. The huqin is a well-known traditional Chinese stringed instrument with a tone similar to that of the kokyu. Like her Chinese junior colleague Tan Dun, Chen Yi is also interested in the fusion of traditional Chinese music with Western classical and contemporary music, and they have much in common.
