781676557219
LIP CREAM - Kill Ugly Pop - Import Custom Marble Vinyl LP Record Limited Edition

Credits:

LIP CREAM

Description:

LIP CREAM's first full-length album "Kill Ugly Pop" is an epoch-making work in the Japanese hardcore/punk scene.

The Japanese hardcore movement that emerged between 1980 and 1981 was heavily influenced by U.K. hardcore in terms of sound, with its Trojans, spiky hair, and studded jackets. However, LIP CREAM has created a unique Japanese hardcore sound with a taste of American hardcore, which was still unfamiliar to Japanese listeners at the time, and in "KILL UGLY POP," they present a new style that has evolved uniquely in Japan.

In particular, the lyrics by vocalist JHAJHA are an exquisite mix of Japanese and English, with an exquisite choice of rhythms and words, and the songs "Give Us the Truth," "For My Life," and "Kill Ugly Pop," which is also the title of the album, show JHAJHA's talent as a lyricist. You can feel JHAJHA's brilliance as a lyricist in "KILL UGLY POP", the title of the album.

Incidentally, the first song "SHANGRI-LA" was originally a COMES song, but it was not released during the COMES period and shifted to LIP CREAM.

According to JHAJHA's testimony, "Akabane-sen Violence Part 2" written by NAOKI is seamlessly connected to "Akabane-sen Violence Part 1," which was originally supposed to be included in "Hardcore Illegal Gathering" but was cut due to length limitations, and when combined with Part 1, it becomes one song. It is regrettable that the sound source for Part 1 is still missing.

The artwork is also a playful and extravagant work of art. The design, a collaboration between photographer Jin Sato and painter Yasuo Yagi, is innovative, and the use of an artist photo of the four band members as the main image is rare, especially when the image is reversed.

The original release was originally scheduled for January 1986, but was actually postponed for two months after the announcement. In the process, the lyric poster that came with the first pressing was not ready in time and was later distributed directly at record stores or mailed to the customer (from the second pressing onward, the poster was enclosed as usual).

This time, the release from RELAPSE realizes a complete reissue with English translations of the lyric cards as well. We hope you will enjoy "KILL UGLY POP" more than 100% along with the digitally remastered sound source.
