Brooks is a graduate of the prestigious Alpha Boys School in Kingston, Jamaica, and his early recordings were made with The Vagabonds and The Granville Williams Band. His first solo recording was produced at Studio One with trumpeter David Madden and released as *I and David*.\n\nIn 1970, he met Count Ossie and joined The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari. He played saxophone and flute and also arranged the horn section. He broadened his musical influences while traveling between the United States and Africa, and also performed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This diverse musical background is strongly reflected in this album; with its rich musicality and varied content, it can be considered a seminal work that led to the later *Light of Saba*.\n\nThe album features some of Jamaica’s top musicians, including drummer Tony Allen. Although it consists of only seven tracks, it includes extended mixes and has been remastered.
