This collection of orchestral works featuring major works by conductor and composer Giorgio Cambissa (1921-1998), a native of Baudiot, Switzerland, is a new 2019 recording by the Moldovan orchestra and Italian conductor. Cambissa, who studied composition with Giorgio Guedini and Vito Levi and conducting with Antonio Guarnieri and Herbert von Karajan, won first prize for composition (chamber music) at the 1961 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition and from 1962 to 1980 was Cambissa's achievements as a composer and educator are often highlighted, but as a conductor, he has also worked with such masters as Backhaus, Cortot, Gieseking, and Gurmiaux. As a conductor, however, Cambissa has left his mark on Italian music history as an accomplished conductor who has collaborated with such masters as Backhaus, Cortot, Gieseking, and Guglielmo.
