The most powerful duo of Vallin and Penttinen recorded Brahms's "Five" Sonatas for Violin and Piano! Ulf Vereen and Roland Penttinen, who are also known for recording the complete violin sonatas of Schumann and Hindemith, have finally started recording Brahms. The series is titled "Five" Sonatas for Violin and Piano. The original three violin sonatas and the F.A.E. sonata are included here, as well as a version of the violin sonata with a revised piano part from the clarinet sonata. This is an exceptionally beautiful performance in which the lustrous tone of the famous Italian instrument Domenico Montagnana played by Varin and Penttinen's fine piano are exquisitely matched. Ulf Varin, one of Sweden's leading violinists, studied with Sven Karpe at the Stockholm School of Music and with Wolfgang Schneiderhan at the Vienna State University of Music. He has performed as a soloist with renowned conductors such as Paavo Järvi, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Franz Welser-Möst, and is a violinist who has performed extensively both in Japan and abroad.
