It is said that Hinastera's music requires a solid technique and sense of rhythm to bring out such fun. This is the first recording of the "Harp Concerto" and "Concerto Variations" by the Norwegian musician. Sidsel Walstad, who studied in Norway, the U.S., and Denmark, was principal harpist for the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and later worked as a solo harpist for the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. He is a harpist who performs not only classical music, but also pop, jazz, and folk music with his electric harp on a variety of stages. Miguel Haas-Bedoya, a native of Peru who has had a spectacular career in the U.S., has been the principal conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra since 2013.This new recording of "Harp Concerto," one of Argentine master Alberto Hinastera's masterpieces and a standard harp concerto, is a must-hear for harpists and Hinastera fans! The "Concerto Variations" is music that makes free use of the "color palette" of the orchestra. Beginning with a "Theme" for cello and harp and "Interlude for Strings," seven characterful "Variations" for flute, clarinet, viola, oboe and bassoon, trumpet and trombone, violin, and horn as "solo" instruments, followed by "Interlude for Woodwinds" and "Repetition of Theme" for double bass. After seven character "Variations" with "solo" instruments, "Interludes" with woodwinds and "Repetition of the Theme" with double basses, the piece concludes with a "Rondo-like Variation Finale" with orchestra.
