The program focuses primarily on works by contemporary Danish composers—including Nielsen, whom Jensen actively championed—as well as works by Sibelius, known for his compelling interpretations.\nAlso worth noting are pieces from Jensen’s signature repertoire, such as Nils W. Gøze’s “Symphony No. 1” (subtitled “On the Valiant Plains of Sheron”) and Leif Kaiser’s “Symphony No. 3.” Håkon Båsen’s *Thor’s Journey to Jotunheim*, an orchestral work based on an episode from the *Edda*, was the piece that led Jensen to study under composer Johan Svendsen, who served as conductor of the Royal Theater in Copenhagen.
