He won numerous competition awards and performed in concert halls and festivals around the world. Often performing piano pieces for four hands with Anne Kéfélec, he was also a close friend of Georges Cifra, whose style of playing was completely different. As a soloist, he was renowned for his lyrical and restrained performances of Haydn, Schumann, and Debussy, which made him a popular performer, and in his last years he became even more famous as Natalie Stutzman's accompanist. She remained a professor at the Conservatory of Saint Maur until her death from cancer in 1993. Memories of her concerts, master classes, and generosity live on. The recordings made for Erato and the former EMI collected here attest to her extraordinary talent.
