Known for being the first black democratic nation, Haiti has a fascinating musical culture with an exquisite blend of Latin and African music. French female pianist Célimène Daudet is from Aix-en-Provence, but her mother is Haitian and has a special attachment to the country, so much so that she started a piano music festival there in 2017. This Daudet has realized an album of piano music by Haitian composers. He has selected 12 works by three 19th century-born composers, Ludovic Lamorte (1882-1953), Justin Elie (1883-1931), and Edmond Saintonge (1861-1907).
