Walter Bishop, Jr. is best known for his 1961 masterpiece "Speak Low," and his second album for Black Jazz Records was released under the name of his band, Force Cycle, and features many songs that are not available under his solo name. The album opens with "Soul Village," a jazz-funk tune characterized by Walter's mellow organ and running structure, followed by the dark and Afro-tinged "N'Dugu's Prayer" and the groovy "Blue Bossa" with its speedy bossa nova.
