This is a collection of unpublished works by Ferdinando Carulli (1772-1841), a leading Italian composer-guitarist who taught himself how to play the guitar, moved from his native Naples to Paris, and achieved great success. Until the rise of Fernando Sor, Carulli had absolute fame and reputation in Paris. Although Carulli was famous for his methods for the guitar and as a prolific composer, he was not always fortunate when it came to publishing his own works, so the appearance of this recording of his unpublished works is a welcome development.
