Romeo, who visits the Capretti under false pretenses, begs Giulietta to run away with him, but she refuses out of loyalty to the family. She obeys his words. Romeo, seeing her fake funeral procession, is pessimistic and looks up to the poison alone... In 1826, Bellini premiered \"Bianca and Fernando\" in Naples, and his talent was recognized. After many successful operas, he was finally asked by the Teatro La Fenice in Venice to present a new production. He began work on a new opera in 1830, and Felice Romani, who was in charge of the libretto, provided a reworking of \"Giulietta and Romeo,\" which he had written for Nicola Vacchai. Donizetti himself appropriated several melodies from his own \"Zaira\" to complete the work.The script has no direct relation to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and there are considerable differences in the treatment of the characters and the development of the story.
