However, perhaps because Taneyev himself was indifferent to the publication of his works, few of his works have survived, and after his death they were rarely performed. Of the two works on this album, the Violin Sonata is a classical work with beautiful melodic lines reminiscent of Beethoven. The third movement, with its minuet, also creates an elegant atmosphere. The Piano Quintet, on the other hand, is a work of grand scale and gorgeous musical ideas. The technical piano part is a highlight of the work, as Taneyev was an excellent pianist. Spectrum Concerts Berlin, with Eldar Neborshin as a member, is an ensemble that focuses on performing unknown chamber music works from the 19th and 20th centuries. The ensemble flexibly adapts to the composition of the piece and delivers a superb performance.
