Description:
Mihir was born into a musical family and was an excellent musician from his youth, especially in religious music and opera, where he was a very successful composer. He was double bassist at St. Michael Jesu Church in Munich from 1771 to 1778, after which he became parish musician. It is recorded that Charles Burney, an English musicologist known for his "Musical Travels," visited Munich around this time and praised Mihir's works, saying, "I have never heard a greater genius than he. He seemed to love the sound of the bassoon and left behind numerous works that include the bassoon, all of which are refined and beautiful. The quartets on this album are also full of vitality reminiscent of Leopold Mozart's works. Naxos Japan
