Rare works for the Beethoven Year 2020 are now available. Beethoven's string quartets are one of the most popular genres in his oeuvre, but there are also pieces that were discarded in the conception stage or rarely performed, and this collection of these pieces will be an important resource for understanding Beethoven. The String Quartet in F major is an early version of the piece that was later published as "No. 1. It is said to have been carefully revised before publication, and is an interesting glimpse into Beethoven's creative process. Other small pieces include a grand fugue written as the last movement of "String Quartet No. 13" and an unusual early fugue, among which is an arranged version of Handel's work. Naxos Japan
