Of the 14 sonatas, this collection includes Op. 114, written around 1823, Op. 176 (1832), the last of the three, and WoO 11, the first, probably written in the early 1800s. The B-minor sonata is clearly influenced by Beethoven, but it is hard to deny that it is somewhat immature. The later works are well-crafted, and one can listen to them with peace of mind. In 1835, Robert Schumann wrote in the \"New Music Magazine\" about Ferdinand Ries and Beethoven. He praised Ries for his \"remarkable originality. From Classicism to Romanticism.
