Although he must have been one of the most successful violinists in history, his other works are less well known than one might imagine. Sarasate was born in Pamplona, Spain, in 1844. His father, a regimental band leader, taught the violin to the young Pablo, but the talented son soon surpassed his father and moved to Madrid to further hone his skills. His precocious talent was recognized by the then Queen Isabella II of Spain, who supported him to study at the Paris Conservatory, where he would go on to become an outstanding violinist. This box contains all of Sarasate's wonderful works for violin and orchestra. It is played by the \"very talented young violinist\" Tianwa Yang (Yang Tianbao). She has also released four other Sarasate \"Works for Piano and Violin,\" so she must be in a league of her own when it comes to Sarasate. Smooth tone, expressive power. She is a true master in every way.
