Artim Delvord, one of Russia's leading guitarists, is a confident guitarist who began playing the guitar at the age of 6. He is currently teaching young students at the Gnesin Music Academy, while actively recording a number of new works by Russian composers. This album features works by Paganini, the great 19th century composer who loved the guitar as much as the violin, as well as works by contemporary composer Nikita Koshkin. Koshkin was born in Moscow in 1956 and became a guitarist at the age of 14 after hearing a record by Andres Segovia, a gift from his grandfather, and achieved international fame as a composer in the 1980s. 24 Preludes and Fugues, released in 2017, requires technical mastery and interpretive clarity. It is a bible for guitarists, requiring technical mastery and interpretive clarity. Here we hear a live recording of his arrangement of the Paganini sonata for quartet and his 2005 guitar concerto "Megalon.
