Particularly, the unique minor scale, known as the \"Hungarian scale\" or \"Roma scale,\" was part of its appeal, which influenced composers such as Liszt and Bartók and gave rise to numerous works. Brahms' \"Hungarian Dances\" is one of the best examples. Originally written for piano four hands, Brahms himself later arranged the first ten dances for solo piano and some for orchestra, and this album includes his own arrangements as well as those by friends and later musicians.\n\nRoberto Abbado was an Italian conductor whose uncle was Claudio Abbado. He studied conducting with Franco Ferrara at Teatro La Fenice and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and has been active worldwide, especially in opera.
