Featured here are works by composer Uroš Krek from Batić's native Slovenia and electronic music pioneer Else Marie Paase. Krek's works incorporate folk-influenced polyphony within tonal harmonies, all of which have a mysterious beauty. Pärze's choral works include works from the 1950s and "Maria" (1980), which uses electronic music. Mary" was written to heal the trauma of war, and is a massive work in eleven movements depicting the stages of suffering of the Virgin Mary. It is regarded as one of the masterpieces of contemporary religious music. The electronic music part of this piece was created by herself in 1972 and is played over loudspeakers during the performance. Here, the limpid soprano soloist is Danish-born Anna Millman, who has been a member of the Danish National Vocal Ensemble since 2023.

Naxos Japan

Tracklisting:

1.
