During his lifetime, his ballet and orchestral works were performed and broadcast on the radio, but some time after his death, his son-in-law sold the rights to his works to the Zdeten German Music Institute on condition that they be sealed for 40 years after the composer's death (until 2031), so they were buried. Later, thanks to the efforts of those concerned, the condition was relaxed, and the performance and recording opportunities have gradually increased. Vinterberg is not so much interested in the twelve-tone technique, but basically adheres to the neoclassical style, and his style shows the influence of Janacek and Schoenberg. This album contains his three string quartets. All of them are relatively familiar music. The original recording's commentary provides a glimpse into Winterberg's life and the difficulties experienced by Czech Jews during and after the Second World War.
