The nine pianists are: Anda from Hungary, nicknamed the "Piano Bard"; Gerber, a Beethoven specialist under Marguerite Long; Gulda, one of the "Vienna Three Crows"; Kemp, known for his solid Beethoven interpretations; Meissenberg, who specializes in Romanticism and modern and contemporary works; and the recently released Lifshitz, who has recently released a highly acclaimed collection of Beethoven sonatas; Seemann, who is also active as an organist and offers sincere interpretations of classical works; Opitz, who is known for his perfect touch and solid expressiveness; and Zelkin, who is considered the heir to German musical orthodoxy.
