Wilhelm Goltner was a pianist and composer active in the 19th century. Born into a Jewish family in Hamburg, little is known of his early life. 15 years old, he entered the Leipzig Conservatory, where he made friends with many musicians, and later moved to Paris. His fascinating works were especially popular in the salons, and his publishers were constantly asking for them. His "Modern Suite No. 1" for piano duets, written in 1875, was so popular that Gortner responded to its request and composed six more suites over the next 12 years. The present recording of Goltner's works is the first recording of his works by Goltner. This recording will provide an opportunity to rediscover the appeal of Goltner's works. Naxos Japan
