Description:

Born in Chicago, studied in Paris, won first prize at the International Harpsichord Competition in Warsaw in 1993, and made her debut at the Prague Spring Festival in 1994, Jolie Vinicourt has been nominated for two previous Grammy Awards, including for the complete Rameau harpsichord works released on Sono Luminus A virtuoso player, in 2019 she made her first appearance at the Ravinia Music Festival, the oldest outdoor music festival in North America, performing Bach's "Goltberg Variations." On this album, the orchestra performs four of Bach's masterpieces on instruments restored by Tom and Barbara Wolff from a German Zilberman model. Recently, Vinikour has been increasingly active as a conductor, playing with the Bergen Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, as well as conducting operas by Purcell and Monteverdi, and more activities are expected.
