Description:

Composer Rayherson was born in Leningrad in 1961. Active for a time in New York, he is now based in Moscow. A renowned jazz pianist, his works have a romantic style that combines Rachmaninov-esque virtuosity with a jazz idiom, and many performers love to play his works. This album features Rayherson's friend, pianist Lifshitz, as well as his close friends Knyazev, Astashova, and other virtuoso musicians. The ensemble is intimate. The program includes the classically styled Piano Trio No. 2 and Piano Quartet, the melancholic melody of "Melody," and the playful "Five Pieces for Piano," as well as a number of other interesting works.
