About the formation of the unit (Katsuji Shoko, Taikinojo Mochizuki, Toshiaki Komori) Two of the three musicians, Katsuji Shoko (saxophone) and Takinosuke Mochizuki (drums), first performed together in Hiroshima about 30 years ago through the introduction of jazz critic Teruhito Soejima (at that time, the three of them performed together with shakuhachi player Hisaya Mizukawa, who is also a famous composer in the Japanese music world). Since then, Shoko and Taikinojo have continued to play together in a number of sessions in various configurations. Time passed, and in 2018, through the introduction of noise musician and percussionist Tamayura Kurage (玉響海月), a member of the improvising duo Nutetama (鵺魂), Shoko and Toshiaki Komori (piano) performed together for the first time at the now defunct cafe Chakaiki (Yotsuya, Tokyo).
