Started by members who have worked in prestigious choirs and ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Ghent, Cinquecento, Grand Lavoie, Capilla Flamenca, and Huelgas Ensemble, the group is based at the Cartesian Monastery in Mauerbach, Austria, and performs Renaissance Franco= The group sings mainly the music of Renaissance Franco-Flemish polyphony. She has built her reputation on recordings of masses by Renaissance masters such as Okeghem, La Rue, and Obrecht, as well as unknown Flemish musicians, and has further enhanced her reputation with Palestrina's \"Mass of Pope Marcellus\" (PFB2017671), released in 2021. This latest album features masses and motets by Jacobus Barbillo (Jacques Barbillo), a Renaissance composer from the Southern Netherland.Barbiraud was also highly regarded by Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I as an excellent singer and is said to have held the position of choirmaster of the Antwerp (Antwerpen) Cathedral. Although very few of his works are extant, his three secular songs were used by Heinrich Isak and Jacob Obrecht to compose parody masses, and he is recognized by modern scholars such as Kiesewetter and Fetis as one of the supreme composers of the Flemish school of music. Beauty Farm impressively demonstrates through this recording some of the most important works of the Flemish School, even though he died at a young age.
