Johannes Klumpp, born in 1980 in Stuttgart, was appointed principal conductor and music director of the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra of Essen, founded in 1958, in 2013, and has turned this regional orchestra into a force to be reckoned with. He is also the Artistic Director of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, a position he will assume in 2020. Krumpp's music is influenced by period playing, but he creates clear, crisp Mozart music in a way that only a chamber orchestra can, and it is very appealing.The CD includes the first and last symphonies, both the 9-year-old work and the 32-year-old work, both stylistically appropriate and full of music.
