A collection of contemporary unaccompanied violin and viola works by Kufferath, a member of the Tetzlaff Quartet! Elisabet Kufferath is a talented violinist who is also a member of the Tetzlaff Quartet led by Christian Tetzlaff. She has performed with Tabea Zimmermann, Isabelle Faust, Lars Forkert, and others, is a former concert mistress of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, and as of 2017 is a professor at the Hannover University of Music, teaching younger students. This album is a collection of composed works for unaccompanied violin and viola by contemporary composers such as Berio, Carter, Kurtág, and Müller-Wieland. Jan Müller-Wieland's "Ascension" is dedicated to Kupferath and was premiered at the Feldkirch Festival in Austria. Sequenza VI," written for viola by Berio, is a work of overwhelming virtuosity.
