Jamaica will celebrate its 60th anniversary of independence in August 2022. To mark this anniversary year, the label is releasing "RISE JAMAICA: JAMAICAN INDEPENDENCE SPECIAL," a double vinyl set of green and yellow analog LPs. The collection features songs recorded in Jamaica in 1962, the year of independence.LP1 is a musical record of the Jamaican music of the time, from hit songs to rare recordings that are now available for the first time officially. Included on LP1 are a number of Jamaican radio hits from 1962, including ska and R&B hits by Jimmy Cliff, Derrick Morgan, Owen Gray, Don Drummond and others. LP2, on the other hand, features tracks produced by Duke Reid, a DJ/producer and founder of the Treasure Isle label, who has been a driving force in the Jamaican music scene. Although it includes singles such as Hortense Ellis' "Midnight Train" and Frank Cosmo's "Have Mercy Baby," most of the material is previously unreleased, making it a rare collection.RISE JAMAICA: JAMAICAN INDEPENDENCE SPECIAL" is a valuable compilation released on the 60th anniversary of Jamaica's independence by a label that has left a significant mark on the history of Jamaican music.
